📣 YAY! After much procrastination, waiting for weather forecast, and asking around for interest, we’ll be hosting another Hedgie Meetup for our Vancouver friends ❤️
What is a Hedgehog Meetup?
A hedgehog meetup is similar to any other pet meetup, the most common one you have heard of is a dog meetup! We are not sure why hedgehog meetups aren’t as popular but that’s probably due to the fact not many people have hedgehogs as pets and hedgehogs are temperature sensitive, so an all year round (outdoor) meetup is not a good idea.
With the temperature getting warmer and summer just around the corner, we thought to start our local hedgehog meetup earlier so we can possibly have a second one in later in the year (TBD).
Here are a few snippets from our hedgehog meetup last July!

Disclaimer about the Kibble or Treat Sample Exchange
PROS: Hedgehogs can be picky eaters and it is normal for them to change their food preferences over time. Or sometimes the food that your hedgehog likes may not be available or in-production anymore, which is why it is important to vary your hedgehog diet besides nutrition enrichment reasons. During our meet, you can share a sample of your current kibbles/treats so that local hedgehog parents can give this a try before committing to a full-sized bag without knowing if your hedgehog likes it for sure. We’ve been there as a hedgehog parent of three – Lou is a super picky eater, thankfully Cici enjoys the kibbles that Lou doesn’t like! But before that, we’ve had let some kibbles expire or just throw them out in the compost because it is hard to give away an open bag.
CONS: There are risks for contamination especially dependent on how YOU pack it. But if this is a personal health concern, kindly let us know and we will do our best to set this up away from the general area to reduce the risks of contamination, however this is not a guarantee. Please always refer to your health professional and practice caution when you have a food allergy. Knowing who and how many people will be participating and contributing can also help us account for preparing additional zip locks or small containers.
Don’t forget to RSVP to the Hedgehog Meetup!
If you can’t make it for this event, don’t fret! We’ll be having an e-meeting in September, which is more accessible. Stay tuned!
Just send us a DM or email adventuroushedgies@gmail.com, so that we can keep you updated about this!
With love,
Lou, Cici and hooman
